The Austin Urgent Care:
We are conscious of the demands on vet emergency in Adelaide. Our aim is to provide an alternative option for clients, especially for the cases that need more urgent attention but may not necessarily need ICU. We also aim to innovate urgent care/emergency to be a more sustainable career choice.
We prioritise quality over quantity, guaranteeing the best possible care for each pet. Our focus will be on staff-to-patient ratios, ensuring patients receive close and personalised attention.
Our philosophy is to excel in everything we do, or not do it at all. With this commitment in mind, we have spent some time to build the necessary support systems to launch our urgent care service for referring veterinarians. Our Urgent Care vets and nurses are equipped to perform a wide range of procedures, supported by our specialist services to ensure the highest quality of care.
The Austin Urgent Care will (initially) be available five days a week (Mon-Fri) to provide immediate medical attention for pets requiring urgent and critical care during those crucial after-hours times when their regular practice is closed. A team of Urgent Care vets, nurses, and animal care attendants will look after Urgent Care patients day 24 hours per day Monday to Friday.
We want to create a sustainable future for ER vets, and believe in a work-life balance so shifts are up to 8.5 hours, allowing flexibility to spend time with family or get in some exercise before a shift and other things that really matter when building a sustainable work roster.
About The Austin:
We are young but ambitious with lofty standards. Our growing custom-built hospital (1200m2) is designed around a synergistic approach to patient care. Between specialist departments in surgery, internal medicine, ophthalmology and imaging, we work as one team to ensure outstanding patient care and exceptional customer service.
Our hospital has all the instruments necessary to enable our team to relish their chosen careers, and flourish. This includes intensive care facilities, large central treatment area, surgery wing, full suite of imaging equipment and dedicated medicine room.
About the role:
As the Urgent Care Head Vet, you will lead and develop our newly formed Urgent Care team. This includes managerial duties as well contribution to clinical duties (consults and in-clinic patient management).
The role is permanent and full-time with a negotiable start date. The roster will rotate Mon-Fri between various shifts.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and expertise:

Veterinary degree that is recognised in South Australia

Aptitude and attitude to develop long-term career in Urgent Care/Emergency and Critical Care

Desire to grow in(to) leadership position (have ambition and good ideas)
